Designed in 1873 in a mid – Victorian Baroque style by James Williams, the Architect
to Her Majesty’s Office of Works, this four storey building has a classical facade which
gives the appearance of an eloquent two storey structure. Incorporating a mixture of
classical Doric columns and Pilasters at ground floor level which are extended through
the first floor, a similar aesthetic is applied to the upper two floors using classical
Corinthian pilasters.
Painting size 340mm x 530mm, 2008.
